Beware of gambling addiction!

Not all games are good

Just five years ago, for over a year, we were all terrorized by the coronavirus pandemic. Along with it, prices rose, businesses and organizations closed, and no one could be sure of the future!

Gambling – what is it?

Quarantine is, of course, an extremely unpleasant thing... But the most unpleasant thing is the emotional component – ??the constant expectation of something bad. In fact, the disaster hasn't happened yet, and we're already experiencing it. Most likely, it will never happen, let's hope so, but we've already suffered losses – and not just emotional ones. As the saying goes, "all illnesses come from nerves."

Of course, there are all sorts of sedatives and pills... But these are the times when it's best not to bother doctors unnecessarily, especially over such "trifles" as nerves... They'll tell you right: "Who's having fun these days?"... So many resort to a "surefire remedy"—statistics show that alcohol sales have increased by tens of percent during the pandemic. This harmful habit can cost us dearly!

Technical aspects

Feelings of anxiety and dissatisfaction are all EMOTIONS. And this negativity can and should be fought with the same weapon (fight fire with fire)—positive emotions.

Excitement is one of the most powerful positive emotions. The thrill of success, victory, and winning! When excitement hits, everything depressing us instantly disappears. Our psyche reboots, like a frozen computer. In most cases, this has a beneficial effect on our body as well. Virtual reality, remote work, online...

The sense of risk and danger—this adventurous passion is severely limited in reality today. You can't speed, you can't dive with sharks, you can't just climb a mountain peak. You can't even just go to a club and play a one-armed bandit, alas.

That's why bookmakers, which haven't yet closed down, are incredibly popular... Real or virtual, it doesn't matter. What do we get?

This isn't just primitive dominoes where the losers wager beer... This is a much higher level. Sports news and predictions. Some, of course, are guessing, like reading tea leaves, but the people who know a thing or two about this are sports experts with years of experience, who are essentially walking reference books on the world of sports! This is the key to their success. But even they, no matter how confident they are in the strength of their favorite football club or hockey team, experience more excitement than we do—after all, they know how strong their opponent is!

The owners of these establishments know: if excitement is backed by a bet, it only intensifies. Our team wins, and so do we! Often, the money itself is secondary; the feeling of winning is primary.

Is gambling good or bad?

There's been much debate on this topic, with people tirelessly arguing whether it's harmful or beneficial. But science is unequivocal: excitement is not the cause of "gambling addiction," which has been repeatedly described by both doctors and writers.

And those who are eager to ban it, justifying their actions by claiming that someone somewhere lost their entire salary at cards—that's, excuse me, childish babble. You'd have to ban half the country, starting with schools, where excitement is also a key component of evaluation. Not to mention physical education classes! The term "gambling" applies not only to Las Vegas, but also to computer games and chess—yes, chess is a game of chance! Moreover, all competitions are for money! And do you know what the stakes are? Winning the world championship just once is enough to set you up for life! Or even finishing second or third!

Of course, this is an exaggeration, but the essence remains the same. Some people spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to climb Everest, while others spend an extra tenner betting on a "gray horse"—that's perfectly fine! Win or lose.

Good luck!
